Advisory Committee on Standards for Voting Technologies
The Chief Electoral Officer of Ontario established the Advisory Committee on Standards for Voting Technologies under amendments to Ontario’s Election Act introduced by the Protecting Ontario Elections Act, 2021.
The Committee, in partnership with the Digital Governance Standards Institute, developed two Product Standards that set out the minimum requirements for the technical design of vote tabulators and electronic poll books.
In addition, the Committee developed a set of Recommendations for Management Standards for vote tabulators and electronic poll books. The Committee completed its work in 2023.
