Current by-elections

You can still vote in the by-election if you do not have ID showing your name and home address.

For voting purposes, your address is the shelter, food bank, or community health care facility that you visited most often during the five weeks before election day.

If you do not have ID showing both your name and home address:

1. Request a Certificate of Identity and Residence from the administrator of the shelter, food bank, or health care facility you visited most often.
2. The administrator will:
   • Find your assigned voting location using Voter Information Service
   • Write your voting location information on the form.
3. You and the administrator must sign the form.
4. Bring the completed form to your assigned voting location.
5. Give the form to the election official to receive a ballot.

Our outreach team will send food banks, shelters and community health care facilities the Authorization for Administrators form when the by-election is called. This will allow your organization to provide clients with Certificates of Identity and Residence, which can be used as ID to vote.

You must be located in the electoral district of the current by-elections to participate.

You must sign the Authorization for Administrators form in ink and submit it to outreach@elections.on.ca.

If you administer a food bank, shelter, or health care centre and have not yet received this form, please email our outreach team at outreach@elections.on.ca.
