Information for electors who need information in other languages

Elections Ontario is committed to ensuring all electors are able to participate in the electoral process. We forge partnerships with stakeholder organizations serving people with special needs, to link electors to our range of accessible information and services.

We continue to work with ethno-cultural communications experts to develop an information program for electors who need information in other languages (a language other than English or French). The program is designed to reach out to electors in their communities through a range of channels and in diverse formats, including:

  • Agents in our telephone call centre who are trained in responding to diverse needs and can provide service in most languages spoken in Ontario
  • Information posters at community meeting points
  • Information brochures and newspaper and radio advertising in other languages
  • Information in other languages on media websites and on www.elections.on.ca
  • Booklets at the polls in other languages to guide voters through the voting process
  • Directional signage and clear-language posters at the poll

For electors who are developing their language skills in English or French, we offer information in plain/clear language in both languages. As well, information is provided in the classroom by teachers of English as a Second Language, in cooperation with TESL Ontario.
