TORONTO – The nomination deadline of 2 p.m. passed yesterday with a total of 656 candidates on the ballots and 21 registered parties for Ontario’s general election to be held on October 6. There are 107 seats to be filled in the Legislature. In the 2007 provincial general election, there were 599 candidates on the ballots and 12 registered parties.

Ten days of advance voting will take place at locations across Ontario from Wednesday, September 21 to Friday, September 30 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Special ballot voting continues at returning offices across the province until October 5 at 6 p.m. (ET).
On election day, Thursday, October 6, voting locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (ET).
