Election Period is Well Underway

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORONTO – The first week of the election period ends today with the close of nominations at 2 p.m. The full list of candidates will be available tomorrow at www.wemakevotingeasy.ca.

Elections Ontario would like to remind voters to make sure their information is up to date on the Voters List. Voters who would like to be added to the Voters List or who need to update their contact information can do so in person at their local Returning Office by showing one piece of identification that includes both name and residential address.

More than eight million qualified voters whose names are already on the Voters List can expect to get their Notice of Registration Cards in the mail early next week.

“Whether you choose to vote at an advance poll or on election day, bring your Notice of Registration Card and one piece of identification that includes both name and residential address with you to ensure your voting experience is as easy as possible,” said Greg Essensa, Ontario’s Chief Electoral Officer.

Voters can also be added to the Voters List when they go to vote at advance polls or on election day. The comprehensive list of acceptable identification documentation can be found online at www.wemakevotingeasy.ca.

Elections Ontario is the non-partisan agency responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections and referenda.
