Legislative Assembly Appoints New Chief Electoral Officer of Ontario

TORONTO, June 13, 2008 - The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Honourable Steve Peters, with the unanimous consent of the Legislature, appointed Greg Essensa as Chief Electoral Officer of Ontario. Mr. Essensa will be joining Elections Ontario from the City of Toronto, where he held the position of Director of Elections and Registry Services.

“It is with great excitement that I accept this challenging position. I look forward to serving the electors of Ontario” said Essensa.

Mr. Essensa, a dedicated election official, brings with him 24 years of election experience. He will be succeeding John Hollins, who announced his retirement in April.
