TORONTO, September 14, 2007 – Elections Ontario is urging new electors who are qualified to vote but who are not on the Voters List for the October 10 provincial general election and referendum to ensure they add their names to the List.
First-time voters typically include new residents of the province, new Canadian citizens and voters who have turned 18 since the last election. These individuals should contact Elections Ontario to ensure their names are on the Voters List and they are able to vote.
Qualified electors may register and receive a Certificate to Vote up to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, October 9, by taking documents that prove their identity and prove their residence to their local Returning Office. Electors may also add their names to the Voters List by taking documents that show proof of identity and proof of residence to any advance poll in their electoral district or to their poll on Election and Referendum Day.

To be eligible to vote, on polling day a person must be:
- 18 years of age or older,
- a Canadian citizen, and
- a resident of an electoral district in Ontario.
