Elections Ontario revising agents going door-to-door for the February 8 By-elections

TORONTO, January 12, 2007 — Revising Agents from Elections Ontario will start knocking on doors on Saturday, January 13, to update the Voters Lists in Burlington, Markham and York South-Weston. These door-to-door revisions are being conducted in preparation for the February 8 by-elections.

“The Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario means that most electors will already be on the Voters Lists,” says Loren Wells, Assistant Chief Election Officer. “By providing our teams of revising agents with accurate information about eligible voters living at their address, residents will help us make sure that their names appear correctly on the Voters Lists,” adds Ms. Wells.

Revising Agents will be carrying identification from Elections Ontario and asking questions that verify eligibility to vote.

Notice of Registration cards are mailed to electors before Election Day to confirm they are on the Voters List for their Electoral District and provide the poll location where they will vote. Individuals who are qualified to vote – who are at least 18 years of age on Election Day, Canadian citizens and a resident of the electoral district – and who have NOT received a Notice of Registration card by January 26, should contact their returning office to select from a convenient range of options for adding their names to the Voters List.
