TORONTO — March 3, 2006 — Revising Agents from Elections Ontario will start knocking on doors on Saturday, March 4, to update the Provincial Voters Lists in Toronto-Danforth, Nepean-Carleton and Whitby-Ajax. These door-to-door revisions are being conducted in preparation for the March 30 by-elections.
“By providing our teams of revising agents with accurate information about eligible voters living at their address, residents will help us make sure that their names appear correctly on the Voters Lists,” says John Hollins, Chief Election Officer. “Although electors may have recently updated their information during the federal election, it’s important to ensure the provincial list is updated as well,” adds Mr. Hollins.
Revising Agents will be carrying identification from Elections Ontario and asking questions that verify eligibility to vote.
Notice of Registration cards are mailed to electors before Election Day to confirm they are on the Voters List for their Electoral District and provide the poll location where they will vote. Individuals who are qualified to vote – who are at least 18 years of age on Election Day, Canadian citizens and a resident of the electoral district – and who have NOT received a Notice of Registration card by March 17, should contact their returning office to select from a convenient range of options for adding their names to the Voters List.
