Electors may add their names to the Voters List on Election Day

TORONTO – November 23, 2005 – Elections Ontario is reminding qualified electors in Scarborough-Rouge River who are not on the Voters List that they can still vote in tomorrow’s by-election.

Electors who have not received a Notice of Registration card can still add their names to the Voters List on polling day. They must still confirm their poll location and take appropriate identification.

Poll locations can be obtained from the Elections Ontario website at www.electionsontario.on.ca or by calling the Scarborough-Rouge River returning office at 416-299-3143.

To add their names to the Voters List on Election Day, electors will require the following identification:

  • EITHER one identification document that shows their names, address, and signature, such as a driver's license,

OR

  • two identification documents:
    • one that shows their names and signature, such as an old age security card, credit card, passport or citizenship card; and
    • one that shows their names and residence address, such as a tax bill or a utility bill. 

To be eligible to vote, on polling day a person must be:

  • 18 years of age or older,
  • a Canadian citizen, and
  • a resident of the electoral district of Scarborough-Rouge River.
