TORONTO, September 23, 2003 – Elections Ontario is reminding qualified electors who are unable to vote on election day, October 2, that advance poll opportunities continue this week until Friday.
Advance poll voting began last Saturday at returning offices in Ontario’s 103 electoral districts. Starting tomorrow (Wednesday, September 24), voters may also visit additional area advance polls, which are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. All advance polls close this Friday, September 26 at 8 p.m.
Qualified electors who did not receive a Notice of Registration card and have not added their names to the Voters List may apply for a Certificate to Vote at the advance poll and cast their ballot while there.
Advertisements in local daily and community newspapers give the locations of advance polls. Advance poll locations may also be obtained by contacting local returning offices, from the Elections Ontario website at www.electionsontario.on.ca or by calling Elections Ontario at 1-888-668-8683. Returning office locations and phone numbers may be obtained from Elections Ontario.
To be eligible to vote, on polling day a person must be:
- 18 years of age or older,
- a Canadian citizen, and
- a resident of the electoral district.
Persons who ceased to live in Ontario within the two years before polling day may be entitled to vote under certain conditions and should contact their local returning office for more information.
