Third Party Advertisers

The Election Finances Act has been recently amended to bring greater transparency to the activities of “third party” advertisers during an electoral event.

Third party election advertising is political advertising which promotes or opposes a political party or the election of a candidate during the campaign period of an election.

If you engage in third party advertising and spend $500 or more, it is important that you fully understand the registration and reporting requirements. You must register with the Chief Electoral Officer, display authorization on all election period advertising, and subsequently file a report that discloses all advertising spending and the identity of contributors who have donated more than $100.

In this section you will find information on the rules, regulations and reporting requirements of third party advertisers.
