The following highlights your key deadlines and reminders as a candidate in this by-election:
- Before the writ is issued – political party candidates may file a registration form in advance. If you pre-file, you will be ready to begin financial activity immediately after the writs are issued. (Independent candidates may register after the writs are issued on Day 29). See “Registration”.
- Writs issued – Day 29. All candidates who are registered with the Election Finances division may begin accepting contributions and incurring campaign expenses.
- Last day to file Form C-1 with Election Finances division to register as a candidate – Day 1
- Candidates Information Meeting with Returning Officer – Day 23 and Day 10
- Nomination paper – Nominations open on Day 21. You or your designate must submit your nomination paper in person at the returning office by 2 p.m. on Day 14
- Political advertising – prohibited from Day 29 until Day 23, and also on Day 1 and Day 0(Polling Day)
- Advance Polls at the returning office – Day 9 to Day 7
- Area Advance Polls in Satellite Offices – Day 12 to Day 7
- Area Advance Polls – Day 9 to Day 7
- Recommendations for Poll Officials due – Day 11 or earlier.
- Polling Day - Day 0
- Official Tabulation – Day +1 Time as determined by returning officer
- Return CD-ROM(s) to returning office and refer to policy Publication and Access to the List of Electors for more information– no later than Day +5
